Missed Lessons Policy
There are many reasons why a pupil is unable to or does not attend an instrumental music lesson and over the years we have had many enquiries asking, ‘Do I have to pay for music lessons that my child has not attended’?.The answer is, unfortunately yes.
We (PTS Ltd), organize the instrumental tuition in ½ hour periods with each period having 1, 2 or 3 pupils grouped together in each period.
If, for example, one pupil in a group of 3 did not attend, then that lesson would still go ahead and the tutor would still have to be paid for his/her time tutoring. This would apply to all situations including;
- Holidays during term time,
- Illness (but not long term illness, meaning more than half of one full term).
- School activity clashing with lessons.
- School-based teacher not allowing a pupil out of their lesson to attend. This particular situation can sometimes be avoided if the pupil keeps a list of lesson dates and times throughout the term, signed by the tutor and is able to produce it when necessary.
- If a complete group of pupils wish to rearrange a lesson time, then that is a possibility. The tutor and school based music teacher would need at least two weeks notice to change the termly timetable and inform other pupils affected by the changes in lesson times.
- Single lessons are much easier to rearrange as there is only one pupil in that period. However, it is still necessary to give two weeks notice.
